Equipment - Photo Equipment

Cameras have been with me for ages, in fact longer than telescopes. Photography has been a hobby/part time profession for a while now. In collecting and using fine equipment it was only natural that I should use it astronomically.
Piggyback photos are a breeze when you have a good fast tele lens, with the Contax Zeiss 85mm f1.4 being superb. A 300mm tele is also a nice lens for the closer views.
The more recent advent of consumer affordable digital cameras has seen me change slightly, and the Leica Digilux has proven a revelation. In the afocal position it is a fine instrument for lunar/solar/planetary. A fair chunk of the lunar/solar shot in the pictures section have been taken with this camera. Deep sky, long exposure stuff is beyond it.
For lunar and planetary I have adopted the Philips ToUcam. It is proving even better for planetary use, with Mars bearing testament to this. When the gas giants return a little higher it will hopefully give good images. More lately this has evolved to a DMK, an industrial style webcam, capable of up to 60fps.
CCD has also bitten, starting with a Nikon D100, then a Canon 20D, a proliferation of SBIG and Starlight Xpress cameras, and most recently, a Starlight Xpress SXVR-H16 and SX CFW.
